What to Expect

The first enquiry
Calling a personal trainer for the first time can always be intimidating; "I am not fit enough to start training" or "I will try on my own again initially". No matter what the reason is, we understand how difficult it can be. So when you make the first call to us, we will aim to give you as much information over the phone as possible, so you can decide if this is the next step for you in changing your life.
The first meeting
It is always a benefit that you come in to have a talk with us in more detail about how it is we can help you, and how we can set out your goals. This is also a good time to meet the trainers, or to go through any other questions you may have for us in detail, and we can explain all the different avenues available to you. This will also help you make an informed decision about getting started on your new journey.
Body analysis and metabolic typing
Once you have decided that getting started with PT Fitness is for you, we will book you in for your testing session. This gives both you and your trainer a look at where you currently are, and what areas you can work together at improving. This testing will include body weight, body fat percentage, muscle mass, body water percentage and a range of body measurements taken. But don't worry, this information is completely confidential and kept only between you and your trainer. It's also a great way to monitor your improvements as we will review these regularly.
We will also do what is called metabolic typing. This will include a full analysis of your eating, looking into what it is your body craves and how your body utilises food. This will help us to completely tailor an eating plan to you as an individual, to work effectively alongside your training. Every aspect of your new eating plan will be explained to you in detail, so you can be sure you are on the path to success. We also understand that changing a lifetime of poor eating habits can be a challenge, so you will be given continued support and information to ensure you are completely comfortable and confident with your new lifestyle.
We will also have a small training session during your testing appointment. This allows us to have a look at strengths and weaknesses, body posture and technique, and a range of different exercises to ensure we get you started at the correct level.
The first training session
Your first training session will be based on the results of your testing session. You will get straight into exercising with your trainer, working at a level that will challenge you and get you off to a great start. Using an initial warm up, followed by an anaerobic workout combining body weight and free weighted exercises, your body working in its most effective state in as little time as possible.
From then on you will continue to train with your trainer in the agreed weekly amount of sessions, working your body to its optimum state, with constant and continued support from your personal trainer.
